Lou Diamond Phillips (born Louis Upchurch February 17, 1962 at Subic Bay Naval Station, Philippines), named for Marine legend Lou Diamond, is an American actor. He has Filipino, Hawaiian, Chinese, Spanish, Scotch-Irish and one-eighth Cherokee Indian origins.

Biography
Phillips worked as an adjunct director & teacher at a University of Texas, where he as well exposed Drama & Film System, between 1983-1986.

He is an graduate of University of Texas at Arlington. He attended Flour Bluff High School in Corpus Christi, TX.

Phillips' large break go with a prima role within 1987's La Bamba as doomed early rocker Ritchie Valens. Though the role garnered him laud from either critics, he has since noticed it hard to call for an additional leading role inside a heavy-budget Hollywood film.
